Executive summary about Children’s Clothes, Toys, and Food on Budget By Henrietta Copeland

From food to clothes to toys to education we all want to give our little ones the very best that we can.

Sadly, all the news surrounding the credit crunch and economic doom and gloom does seem to encourage young families to grab what bargains they can from the supermarkets - baby clothes for a few pounds, a couple of chickens for a fiver for the all important Sunday roast - it all goes against what the likes of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Jamie Oliver et al have been trying to hammer home - that these ‘bargains’ cost us far more than we let ourselves realise.

Re-discover the library for a fantastic supply of books, dvds, cds and even toys which means you won’t have to suffer “repetitive story-reading syndrome” and your little ones won’t get bored of their toys as quickly! Get down to your local library or visit the National Association of Toy and Leisure Libraries to find your nearest toy library.

Do a spot of sale shopping and pick up some cheaper, long-lasting clothes from ethical companies that you know don’t use child labour. You can get some great bargains, including organic cotton clothes which are really long-lasting and very soft!

Persuade your local post office or shop to host a ’seed bank’ - a basket where people leave any leftover seeds they don’t use for the next person to pick up free of charge!

Learn Tips to Purchase the Best Toddler Toys

Executive summary about Learn Tips to Purchase the Best Toddler Toys
By Ingrid Lee

Toddler toys are perfect for the development of our children. These toys allow them to explore and help aid in their development. There are so many different types of toys that are perfect for your growing toddler. The toys will introduce the fun of play and learning at the same time. I am not an expert in the field of toys for toddlers. I have done the proper research and asked our pediatrician about the “right” toddler toys. I guess there is no right toy exactly. You should always investigate a toy in my opinion, especially for expensive toy purchases. I have some great tips that I like to do before I buy any toddler toys for my son.

Tips to consider before you purchase Toddler Toys

Research the toy.

Read all the reviews. I researched a toy before I purchased it. The Mom Test

Ask yourself questions about the toy:

How is the toy made? Is it worth the price?

The Toddler Test

I was famous for buying toys that I thought were so cute and wanted my toddler to enjoy. So see if your toddler will even play with the toy in question. When it comes to toddler toys, I am all about saving money. Well I like to save money in general. Two great places to find toys at reasonable low prices.

Be sure to go online to different stores and compare prices. If you purchase an expensive toy, make sure your toddler will get the proper use out of it.

My three year old will refer to some of his old toddler toys as “baby toys”. Shop within reason and think about how long they are going to actually play with the toy. It really doesn’t make sense to purchase a $100 toy for 6 months of play. Research a less expensive toy and save the rest of your money. Just decide if the price is worth it and if you are going to get the use out of the toy for the price.

I bet you never thought about all of these factors when considering toddler toys? Remember to have FUN with your toddler. You can find great toddler toys that are just that.

What greater joy can you give a child than a toy? The pleasure of watching children at play and of observing them handling and mastering their toys is something every adult benefits from. Their little fingers are mastering co ordination and artistic design while building their brains into the complex computers they need for their survival later in life. Toys are the greatest of assets when teaching them the basics for their education.

Anything that floats can be a boat, a raft or an animal in the make believe world in which children live. What child doesn’t imitate mum at the stove cooking when given pots to play with. Give him a toy drill or screwdriver and he is transformed into dad at work building something.

The eldest can count to 20 and when books or toys encourage him he is a different person. Castles are built, ride on toys get a bashing, stories are read to them and playing outside is a whole new adventure with mates they rarely meet outside the center. Unfortunately many children are not given toys or encouraged like my grandsons and that is the saddest thing to witness. Encourage brain development and you will gain a student for life. The careful considerate parent is aware of these things but many who never have had this kind of attention in their young lives may struggle to understand how to help their own children during their formative years. But its never too late to learn about the benefits of toys and playful interactions.

Learning Through Play - The Wisdom of Educational Toys

Executive summary about Learning Through Play - The Wisdom of Educational Toys by Rachel Nunez

Toys that surround children make their own preschool Experts say the difference lies in how that toy promotes and enhances the developmental process in young children.

Toy manufacturers then spend careful effort to ensure that the design of the toy is fitted to the capabilities of its user at any given stage thus the addition of age range on toy packages. Yes, children do outgrow certain toys.

Seeing the instructional value of certain toys, one may then ask, “Who classifies toys as “educational”? Organizations that employ evaluators choose them on the basis of their in-depth knowledge of toys coming from either a background on child development or involvement in the toy industry.

Evaluation programs among them the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, periodically hand out toy awards. Certain toys bear the label “seal of approval”. One may also find annual guides to highly-rated toys. Parents can make informed decisions on toys to purchase guided by reviews and ratings from toy experts who examine both the content of the toy or “curriculum value” as well as the skills they develop or “cognitive value”. In a nutshell, the basic thrust of educational toy manufacturers is that toys are teachers.

Educational toys and games, when smartly guided and supervised by adults, can be a powerful tool for early education and learning process. For many, games and toys are simply what they seem to appear: implements of recreational activities for children. For instance, activities in informal education are eventually used to strengthen formal education.

One of the activities frequently used in informal learning environment is playing games among children, and having them play certain educational toys to achieve the desired result. The importance of proper educational toys and games for children is now a settled maxim that there are many literatures now which explain the importance of using educational games and toys to strengthen early learning in children.

In using toys for re-enforcing educational games, adults should be keen in observing the children’s individual personality. This would help the children realize their potential early, and encourage them to pursue their leanings, encouraging them to play similar games and educational toys, thus, strengthening the talent.

Also the individual personality of children should be considered, before deciding on the appropriate educational toys and games for learning or simply, playing purposes. It should also be noted that as children grow older, does necessarily mean the end of educational toys and games.

Educational Toys Help Child’s Learning

Executive summary about Educational Toys Help Child’s Learning by Amy Nutt

We live in a day and age where children are watching TV and playing video games all of the time. Sure, it may seem as if video games and television stimulate a child’s brain, but many times kids are sitting there like zombies. The revolt begins as the child develops by using such things as educational toys . By incorporating such things into a child’s life and keeping those activities as part of their life, a parent is taking an active role in ensuring that their child’s mind stays sharp. Educational toys come in many different types and are available for children as soon as they learn how to grab things. What makes these activities even more interesting is when the parent is involved and praising the child when the child is successful.

Many children loathe learning for one reason or another, so using educational toys can make it fun and rewarding.

When the child reaches a certain age, using these as learning tools can be great. There are also great television programs that make a child think and make learning fun. It is just a matter of placing restrictions on how much time is spent using these electronic tools and making sure there is plenty of time that you and your child are doing fun learning activities together.

The toddler years of a child are very important years for development. You might be wondering what type of toys you should provide your toddler in this crucial stage of his development. The toddler age is the time when children are able to walk on their own. For physical development, toys that allow free movement such as push/pull toys, climbing toys, slides, rocking toys, and balls are perfect for your child.

Stacking toys, blocks, construction toys, and other art and craft activities are some of the toys that will develop fine motor skills.

The toddler age is also the time when your child will prefer to play alone or in parallel to other children of his age. Toys like cars, trains, and stuffed toys are those which can be shared with other kids.

Language development is another milestone in your child’s toddler stages. Construction toys should also be provided to encourage your child’s creativity and imagination.

Give Your Toddler Toys For Emotional Development

Experts enumerate physical, motor, cognitive and emotional growth as key areas in child development. A father would aspire for his son to be a sports star; a mother would love the idea of her child becoming a doctor someday.

Emotional growth is, after all, something that a child can not learn from just his toys. Though a child could learn to “love” his toys, a stuffed animal could not, in reality, hug him back; a doll can not teach him to be considerate of other people’s feelings. Parents are, after all, the first “friends” a child could have. While genetics play an important role in determining a child’s personality, actual interaction would allow him to learn faster and better.

Even in playing with toys such as blocks and puzzles, a child would become more confident with himself if given praise for hard work and accomplishment. It is a fact that a child who is loved is a child who is happy. Parents, love your child not just by giving your toddler toys, but by playing with him.

When it comes to your baby, toys should be of the highest quality and combine education with fun! Finding good infant toys can be a little problematic, though, when you consider the fact that not only should they be enjoyable and educational, they should also be safe.

Wooden toys for babies are one way to make sure that your child does not have issues with small parts. With wooden toys, you also know that they will be durable; unlike plastic toys, they will not splinter or break into smaller parts. When you are looking for infant toys, one of the best toys you can start out with are wooden blocks. Far from being old fashioned or simple, wooden blocks facilitate all sorts of developmental baby games. Wooden puzzles are another way that baby toys can be educational. Think about large bulky wooden puzzle pieces. When looking for educational baby toys, also take a look at soft toys. Babies naturally gravitate towards soft toys, especially if they are colorful, and this is a great time to start teaching your child about colors. One wonderful toy for a baby is a set of stuffed trucks and cars. Soft toys are also usually a good idea for children because they can’t hurt themselves on them. Similarly, you can find soft toys that your child can build with, or that she can stack. When you are looking for baby toys, remember that education and fun are not mutually exclusive. Check out wooden toys for babies and come up with your own developmental baby games!

Baby Toy Safety Tips to Protect Your Child

Executive summary about Baby Toy Safety Tips to Protect Your Child by Ryan J Bell

Each year, thousands of babies are injured by playing with toys that are unsafe. While most manufacturers have taken great care to ensure their toys are baby-safe, the injuries continue. Other times, babies are left unattended with toys that are otherwise safe but can still cause harm when the baby is alone. Thankfully, with diligence, most of the toy-related harm that happens to babies can be prevented. Toys aren’t typically sold with sharp edges and points. When a baby plays with a toy, pieces can break off exposing sharp points that can slice or puncture the skin. When you buy a new toy for your baby, take time to inspect it. Most baby toys don’t allow small parts to be removed or unfastened. The parts may not break off at that moment, but a slight pull or tug by your baby can easily cause the part to dislodge from the toy. Hard plastic can easily break off and cause injury.

Your baby might swallow the projectile. Or, it can strike your baby’s eyes. Every precaution that you take in purchasing baby toys with small parts should be taken when buying toys that propel small objects. These toys can become deadly in a baby’s hands.

For each toy you purchase, ask yourself whether the toy is too small. You don’t want your baby to swallow the toy. How heavy is the toy? If dropped onto your baby’s head, can it cause an injury? Are there pieces that are loose on the toy? Thousands of babies are injured by toys each year.

While many people view toys as something that a child merely plays with and has no importance, others understand that play is a way that your child learns. Playtime is the way that children learn and reinforce what they understand about the world.

Once you understand the importance of playtime, you will begin to wonder what kind of toys to buy for your developing child. If your child is advanced there are other ways that you can stimulate their inquisitive brain and leave the toys age appropriate.

The reasons for the age restrictions on some toys are primarily safety. Take the warnings and the age restrictions seriously to keep your child safe.

It is possible to find toys for an advanced child that is still age appropriate. Look in the toy stores that specialize in these types of toys. Look for toys that give the child an opportunity to learn much more than just how to operate the toy. For instance, a telescope is a great toy for an inquisitive mind. They can learn all about the telescope and how it works, which is fascinating to some children. Use your creativity and think outside of the packaged toys that are in the stores and you will find some great toys for your child.

Helpful Tips on Choosing Educational Toys For Your Child

Executive summary about Helpful Tips on Choosing Educational Toys For Your Child by Rachel Nunez

Play is the language of children. It is an essential part of a child’s learning and development. Parents play a crucial role in stimulating a child’s development. Unfortunately in this modern time, parents do not exactly have the time to interact with their children personally. You just have to choose the best toy for your child.

You are faced with the dilemma on choosing the toy that will suit your child best. Make sure the toy is safe, durable and appropriate for a child’s age. The toy is easy to use. It is important that the child is able to play with the toy himself in order for him to enjoy it. The toy may hold educational benefits but if it does not satisfy a child’s curiosity it will be quickly thrown aside and forgotten. Find a toy that is specifically the child’s style and interest. Choose toys that will promote social skills. These toys will encourage cooperation and compromise by playing with other children. Choose toys that fit your budget. Good toys are not necessarily pricey.

Embrace the significance of providing the right educational toys to provide your child the best foundation for learning.

I got my kids all the toys my wife found to help the kids’ “development.” You know, educational toys. We had little red wagons and toy cowboy pistols. We had Lincoln Logs, Matchbox cars, building blocks and our imaginations. I can remember a summer when I was 6 when my only new toy was a stick my dad helped me turn into a fishing pole. I would rather see my kids play with a toy that they enjoy, that inspires them to run around and have fun and explore the world than some “educational” toy that they’re going to sit around playing with for a few hours until they tire of it and never touch it again.

Heck, I’d even rather see them chase each other around the back yard with toy guns than sit inside with some pseudo-egghead puzzle or game that’s supposed to make me feel better about spending fifty bucks!

You can’t open a newspaper or turn on a TV news program without somebody saying that today’s children are obese and inactive. I’d like people to consider other factors, like if the toy will get our kids moving around and playing actively, or if it will turn them into little couch potatoes. I’d like people to think about whether their kids will actually enjoy the toy, or whether it will sit untouched.

Let’s put away all these silly ideas about what’s right for our kids and just them be kids and have fun the old-fashioned way.

Select the Best Educational Learning Toys

Executive summary about Choosing the Best Educational Toys by Michael Champlin

Play is an essential part of childhood development, so it is important that parents choose toys that promote the learning and growth of their children. Toys should be age appropriate and encourage positive imaginative play. While children need toys and play things for successful development, they are no substitute to the love and nurturing that only their loved ones can provide. Best Infant and Toddler Toys teach and stimulate your babies and toddlers minds with toys that focus on cognitive thinking and motor skills. Help your child learn to use his or her body parts, recognize and control objects, sounds and tastes and more with developmentally appropriate toys such as mobiles, rattles and stuffed animals. Picture books with colorful symbols and make-believe educational kids games are great interactive activities for your child and you to enjoy together. Simple toys such as blocks, balls and even hats can inspire learning and imagination in your busy toddler. Preschool Educational learning toys , while some youngsters have siblings that they interact with on a daily basis, others haven’t had a chance to spend lots of quality time interacting with peers, which is why preschool exposes children to a whole new world. Foster the skills that help them develop friendships by purchasing dramatic play items such as props for group play and educational kids games such as house or store. Also, be sure to invite your child’s new friends over for play dates.

As so many brands of toys have made it in the local and international market, there has also been influx in the number of toys for kids . These outlets are mostly found in malls and shopping centres and usually carry different local and imported brands of toys. For one, it will save you much time and effort in searching for the right types of toys from different store. The toys for kids should be able to carry good brands. Top brands are usually carried by most stores but not all new brands can be found in all stores. Stocks should be updated and replenished. The store needs to have a good inventory of every toy it sells. It should never carry toys that are one of a kind.
It should sell toys with different price ranges. The store should have a wide selection of toys for different ages. Lastly, a good toy for kids must have sales people that render excellent customer service. As the old adage goes and is especially true for an ideal toys kids, the customer should always be right.

Kids Toys That Play Well

During playtime, children develop learning strategies, critical thinking skills and a foundation for life-long competencies and interests. Watching your kids at play clearly reveals that learning is a developmental process from the vantage point of your children, they need to match their interests and ages. When making a purchase, consider if the toy has star potentials. Take into account consistency of play value and whether the toy offers an extension of your child’s creative and imaginative bent. A good toy encourages a child to experiment and explore without limit!

Toys can help children better understand their neighbors. A toy’s quality and staying power is determined by its ability to withstand active use. Remember to choose toys with broad appeal and are not only worth the investment, but your child plays with them again and again. Kids toys should be technically well produced.

There are toys that can help children understand new concept or develop new skills. Your child’s understanding of wildlife, science or the environment can be enriched. Toys which encourage and support physical activity and development contribute to a child’s health and growth. Consider if the toy is innovative and original. You as a parent should keep your children invested in worthwhile toys. Kids toys must not only enhance a child’s play experiences, but be fun, too!
